Born and raised in Southern California, Kristen did not see much active weather growing up – that is until she attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. Kristen earned a B.A. in Environmental Science with a specialization in Climate & Energy and a minor in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. While in Colorado, she spent more than a year interning for both KMGH-TV & KDVR-TV in Denver, learning to forecast the challenging weather events in and around the Rocky Mountains. Kristen also has a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
Kristen began her on-air career at KAMC-TV in Lubbock, Texas before jumping over the state line to KRQE News 13. She spent nearly two years in West Texas, forecasting everything from ice and dust storm, to severe thunderstorms that produced large hail and damaging winds across the South Plains.
While not in front of the green screen, you can catch Kristen adventuring through New Mexico on her quest to find the best views and enchiladas the state has to offer. She’ll also be cheering loudly at any Lobo and Isotopes game she can get to.
