Jewish Community Center honors 4 people who help others

Back in 2008, the Jewish Community Center established the New Mexico Humanitarian Awards Program to honor New Mexicans who have demonstrated an exemplary spirit of humanity in a local, national or international capacity.

These awards celebrate those who have selflessly devoted themselves to help others. The 12th Annual New Mexico Humanitarian Awards will recognize and celebrate this year’s honorees at an awards dinner, Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Sandia Resort.

At Saturday’s event, the center will be honoring four people in the community. One of the honorees, Tracy Sharp-Weaver talked about her role in the community and how she helps out. Sharp-Weaver is the executive director of Saranam which is a program intended to help homeless families. The program provides stable housing for up two years while they gain the life skills and education needed to end their homelessness and live independent, successful lives.

The dinner benefits children’s programs, swim and camp scholarships, and community services at the Jewish Community Center.
