There’s no stress at the Lavender Festival

Over the weekend, on July 20th and 21st, the Village of Los Ranchos, New Mexico, held its annual Lavender Festival. 100 vendors of the lavender plants, products, lotions, fine art, local beer & wine, and much more. Sensational live music was played throughout the day, with bands like the Silver String Band, South 14 Blues Band, 3 on a Match, and more.

Throughout the day, the Los Poblanos team was live steam-distilling lavender in their copper alembic still. There was a chance to stop by and learn about their handmade process that incorporated a centuries-old distillation technique.

There was a chance to enjoy open-air yoga classes, led by the city’s top instructors. Classes were 45 minutes long and were held in the grass, beneath an open-air canopy. Classes were free for festival attendees.

Kids camp and activities were offered during the festival, with special guest, EXPLORA offering fun and educational activities, while you enjoyed yoga, wine, shopping, music, and more. The camp was only open to kids ages 5-10, $5 per child, and sessions were 60 minutes.

What was allowed:

  • You were allowed to bring in personal water bottles. They had a water station where you could refill them throughout the day.
  • You could bring food for any special dietary restrictions or for kids.

What was NOT allowed:

  • No dogs. No pets.
  • No outside food (except for dietary restrictions).
  • No weapons.
  • No smoking allowed on the festival grounds.

Parking: For your safety, you could use the parking lots at Sadie’s in 4th Street, Taft Middle School, Alvarado Elementary School, or Shepherd of the Valley Church. Free shuttles were provided to the festival.

During the event, the Los Poblanos Farm is closed to the general public from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. both event days and was only opened to lodging guests.

All proceeds from the festival support Lavender in the Village, a 501(c)3, whose mission is to support local agricultural and educational programming.
