June is dubbed Pride Month, chosen by the LGBTIQ community to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. Albuquerque Pride celebrated by holding its 43rd annual PrideFest, celebrating the LGBTIQ community in New Mexico.
The festivities start off with the annual Pride Parade. Albuquerque Pride Inc. has worked hard to make the parade fun, safe and enjoyable for all. From safety rules for the floats, encouragement to make the floats stand out and a plan for clean up after the parade, it was sure to be an event to remember. They had floats, classic cars, motorcycles, horses, dancers, and lots of excitement in the 2nd largest parade in New Mexico.
The celebration continued with their main event at Expo NM. Albuquerque Pride was excited to bring dance, music, expression, art, fun, and diversity to PrideFest 2019. The annual event averages about 14,000 people, and brought people from all over the Southwest.
