American Cancer Society Working with Men to Fight Breast Cancer

When we hear about breast cancer, many of us think that it’s a women’s disease, but that’s not true, thousands of men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States every year.

That’s why the American Cancer Society is uniting with men to fight breast cancer through real men wear pink.

The ultimate goal of the Real Men Wear Pink campaign is to raise awareness and money to support the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer initiatives, so we can save lives from the disease.

This campaign gives men a leadership role in the month of October- because not only are men diagnosed with breast cancer, in New Mexico more than 1,400 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and an estimated 250 will die from the disease.

So Real Men candidates commit to wearing pink every day in October to promote the campaign, share breast cancer awareness messaging such as screening guidelines, and reach out to their networks in order to raise $2,500. Last year, eight Real Men in Albuquerque raised more than $19,000 for the American Cancer Society.

This distinguished group of community leaders raises awareness and money to support the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer initiatives and to help it save more lives than ever before.

If you would like to purchase one or more of the “Real Men Wear Pink” t-shirts, you can go to the Union Hall which is at 4100 Edith Blvd NE in Albuquerque.
